    • You may have experienced trauma as an adult, such as an abusive relationship, miscarriage, birth trauma, medical trauma, divorce or bullying.

    • The fear, sadness, hurt or anger from the past gets triggered by situations in your current life.

    • Difficult memories keep replaying in your mind

    • You feel like you have been carrying this pain for too long

    • You want to move forwards but you don’t know how

    • Although I will offer guidance for your recovery journey, you are always in control and we will work at a pace that is right for you.

    • I will help you to understand how to support and regulate your nervous system, teaching you somatic tools and techniques that can help your mind and body to recover from what happened.

    • When you are ready, I offer trauma recovery techniques including Emotional Freedom Techniques, Integrated Eye Movement Therapy and Inner Child Therapy. These approaches help to reduce the impact of trauma so that you can move forwards with your life, have happier relationships and experience more calm and joy.

Harmony is really important to you, but you are struggling to find it in some of your relationships. You may have found yourself sacrificing your own needs in order to try and keep the peace, with a lasting impact on your levels of happiness and wellbeing.

Or perhaps you are experiencing painful cycles of conflict or anxiety with your partner, that you’re unsure how to break. You want to create happier, healthier relationships.

Therapy for relationship challenges

    • You may find yourself frequently putting others first to try and keep the peace. This has a high cost for you as it often leaves your own needs unmet.

    • You struggle to express how you truly feel or ask for what you need.

    • Or you feel caught in painful, familiar, repeating patterns of conflict in relationships, which trigger anxiety, anger or withdrawal.

    • You deeply want happier, more fulfilling connections with those close to you.

    • Able to ask for what you need and express how you truly feel

    • Able to understand and break free from repeated patterns of conflict and disharmony

    • More confident in establishing and maintaining healthy boundaries

    • Able to make a positive difference in the world while still caring for yourself

    • Able to make healthier choices and create happier, more harmonious relationships

    • My approach is warm, friendly and down to earth, making it easier for you to experience emotional safety, kindness towards yourself and to explore your relationship concerns in a helpful and constructive way.

    • Within this supportive space, we will gently explore the patterns that have been playing out for you.

    • Many relationship challenges are rooted in childhood trauma, or trauma from earlier adult relationships.  I’ll help you to explore potential roots and gently use trauma therapy to address them. My experience is that over time these techniques have a powerful impact, helping you to experience your current relationship differently and make new choices that improve your relationships.

    • The somatic therapy that I offer enables you to soothe your nervous system, to help to ease the intense emotions that surface during conflict or disharmony. This supports you to have calmer, more helpful reactions.

    • I offer a range of therapy approaches including Person Centred Therapy, Relationship Education, Communication skills, Emotional Freedom Techniques, Integrated Eye Movement Therapy, Inner Child Therapy and Breathwork. We’ll often use a combination of these approaches to help you to create happier, healthier relationships.

  • "Previous to learning the breathwork techniques, I experienced panic attacks and anxious thoughts multiple times a day. I had no feeling of connection to my life... Breathwork has worked so well for me to control anxious thoughts, rising panic and panic attacks. Things that trigger anxious thoughts or panic attacks suddenly don't appear frightening anymore."

  • "I approached Nicola in a very difficult time in my life. Submerged in grief from multiple miscarriages... Two months later, I re-discovered my true self, regained self belief and now I am looking forward to living the life I want; with clear boundaries, respect for self and others, happier, more aligned, and with a fire in my belly to achieve great things."

  • "Nicola has so many ways of working to expertly offer at different stages or states in the therapy, and throughout our work together has been dedicated to helping me find ways to feel heard, seen, valid, as well as offering tools to support me in crisis. Her understanding of attachment has really helped me learn more about my relationships."

Frequently Asked Questions

    • I will reply to you within 2 working days.

    • We will arrange a free 20 minute phone consultation. This is an opportunity for you to tell me what you would like support for and for you to ask any questions that you might have.  If we both decide that we are a good fit for working together, we will find a time slot that works for you.

    • Before your first appointment I will ask you to complete a couple of short forms online and to send the payment for your session in advance of the appointment.

    • I offer either weekly or fortnightly sessions, depending on your preference.

    • Most of my clients have a regular slot that I keep for as long as they need it e.g 10.45am every Monday.

    • I also have capacity for a few clients who need ad-hoc sessions e.g. if they work shifts or don’t have a regular schedule.

  • The sessions are £75 for an hour of therapy.

  • I work between 8am and 5pm on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

    • No, my appointments are held online via Zoom or over the phone.

    • My clients find this to be a convenient way to fit therapy into a busy life and have sessions from the comfort of their own home.

    • Yes, what you tell me in the therapy sessions is confidential. The only exceptions to this are if I am required to share information for legal reasons or in order to protect against harm to yourself or another person.

    • I also have regular supervision, which is a requirement of my professional membership with the BACP. In these sessions I talk about some of the details from clients sessions, but without using any personally identifiable information. This supervision process is in place to ensure that you receive the best possible therapy.

    • It varies according to your individual needs. Most of my clients need longer term therapy. I’d say that the average is 6 - 12 months, but some people need longer than this.

    • You are in control and are free to end the sessions at any point. Normally therapy ends when you are happy that you have achieved the changes that you would like.

  • My therapy is likely to work well for you if:

    • You are happy to commit to regular therapy, either weekly or fortnightly

    • You are open to a holistic approach that includes a focus on mind, body and breath.

    • You are willing to practice self-care exercises between our sessions e.g. breathwork exercises - even 5 minutes a day can make a difference!
